ok an update. two gallants came back from tour with damien jurado, headlined the great american music hall in may. that was nice. the band was told not to use more than one video tape and they used two. needless to say one was confiscated. we need to sneak back in and get it if anyone has ideas. the band is taking a little break from the road. it's been since the end of october last year since there has been a break longer than 2 weeks. this summer will have scattered bay area shows, a possible small sf show coming up, the bands first appearance at high sierra music festival, a benefit for greenpeace in berkeley, a 1 year old fans birthday party, a show at the catalyst in santa cruz with devil makes three, and then the band's first shows in England. two gallants also play Reading and Leeds festivals this summer and several London club shows will be booked around this time. oh it will be lovely.

the latest issue of Believer Magazine includes a compilation of various bands coverings songs for various reasons. two gallants were asked to contribute and so they chose a song called
"Annas Sweater." it's a cover by a defunct sf band called Blear that a few of you may remember. adam is caught playing the wurlitzer, you must go find this song.

check out a review in French from Les in Rocks web zine. it looks positive, but hard to tell?

there was also a live review from the last LA show at the Knitting Factory in the NME from a couple weeks ago.

what’s new is that we just crossed the country in six days, six shows. we met some amazing people in the process. thanks to tim for having us and forgiving us for being retardy in reno once again. thanks to bryan at the high life house in the springs. everyone we met there was kind to us and Fagteam was excellent. thanks to matthew in south bend for being so hospitable--making us pasta and salad and sitting us down for a good ole’ hearty heartland meal. thanks to anna in oberlin for taking us in off the road and setting up a show that was fresher than fresh though the fates were so against it. Walken happened to be in town ‘cause a house in Milwaukee where we were headed to return to got itself burnt down by a bunch of riotous kids when PCPenis from asheville played there a few weeks earlier. so we ended up playing in an empty apartment on what acted like mainstreet oberlin with Walken and PCPenis that night. it was a show not to be forgotten. Walken brought the pain, a pain long overdue. they were, as usual, amazing. after the show we went to a reservoir and went swimming and threw our underwear in the woods then decided to drive to new york at 5 in the morning. that was a great idea. thanks to nat for setting up the show in new york and to all the ex-patriot san franciscans for coming out. sorry if we left our minds in the night prior. thanks to Built to Spill for having us open up for them and all the folks for coming out and making us feel like we actually deserved to be there. we’re traveling home slowly and unless you’re elsewhere we’ll see you when we get back on the 10th. until then be sure to keep collecting worthless necessities and remain constantly afraid of tomorrow. we love you all. 2gs…

we would like to thank all of you who came out to the independent. we were honoured that so many of you managed to pull yourselves away from the other temptations of a saturday night for a little bit of tear stained blood. ah, the tender heart. if only its wings could go unclipped. we were honestly honoured by your presence. every one's. even the drunk members of our childhood who made sure to be their loudest during our quietest songs. if anyone did not get a poster and is interested you can email us back and we'll get one to you somehow.

1/26/2004
dear people. happy to see you. this is the first official two gallants news posting written by two gallants. hopefully it will not be the last. introductions first: my name is adam, i play the box. and my name is tyson, i play the pans. we are two gallants born and sheltered in san francisco. we just finished recording our first album. it should be out in april on ALIVE RECORDS . we are calling it "the throes". it is a long tale of gluttony and disgust with the human condition, all written in primaries. we dedicate the throes to all the loved ones who fill the spaces in our lives without the capacity to care for the problems of others when the gift of their attention offers no rewards in return. forgive us for getting e-crazy on you. our computer is broken.

we are currently planning a tour in march with one of our favorite bands, the north country sophists known as HOLY GHOST REVIVAL. they are from bainbridge island, WA. we all met about a year ago during our first trip north. they hold their instruments like impatient rifles in some antebellum daguerreotype. their songs are filled with really thick words like those that make us wish we had paid attention back when paying attention was our only responsibility. they are each extremely talented musicians and one of the few remaining bands that actually knows how to put on a performance. we are honoured to share the country with them. this tour will take us down, across, a quick stop in juarez to pick up some pharmies, through that ole ravaged south, up the coast, back across, and home. look out for shows near you.

if any of our cds from the last tour skip please come find us at a show and pick up another one of our skipping cds. this time we will give it to you for free. just keep showing up at shows and eventually you might just get one that works (this is how we keep them coming back). but if you come claiming that you bought a scratched one and did not, your hands will be cut off and duct taped to your forehead so that you may watch your reflection in the article of your sleigtery.

please disregard all of the above. this what happens when you give a retard the control of information. (playing president is swell, huh jr.?) finally the cliff notes (i'm sure legacy remembers these): prepare yourself to be informed of upcoming shows and such and be wary of record stores that may carry the throes. be well people. we love you all.
-2 belated gallantesses.

11/17/03
we're on the road again for about 6 weeks. spread the word if you know some peeps across the country and keeping checking back for show updates. thank you for all of your support so far and coming out to the elbo room before we left SF. also thanks to mystery machine for hosting that show and doing a killer job with the press. we will be making a full length record when we return and have signed to Alive Records whose recordings are distributed through Mordam. it will be produced by a guy named Jeff Saltzman. come of his credentials include managing Green Day and Offspring, engineering, mixing, mastering records with Stephen Malkmus & Death Cab for Cutie, as well as producing recent Bay Area bands Heavenly States and Low Flying Owls. the record will hopefully get released around Spring 2004.

10/10/03
keep checking back to the web site as more photos, news, shows, mp3's, and video to be posted soon...
